His Glory Over My Gains!

" For you know that we dealt with each of you as a father deals with his own children, encouraging, comforting and urging you to live lives worthy of God, who calls you into his kingdom and glory."
1 Thessalonians 2: 11-12

His Glory OVER my Gains

In this fast paced, self-serving, driven and distracted world, it is very easy to get caught up in the chase of our own personal gains. Our success, our status, our goals and achievements can be placed at the forefront of all we do, we let our minds be driven by those things. I’ve been guilty of this for many years. I’ve joined the rat race of chasing the worldly things and if I’m honest, I have come up short most every time. I haven’t felt the satisfaction I had hoped and prayed for or the sense of “arriving” at the place I have always wanted to be.

This past summer, God gave me clarity and a brand new perspective on why I lacked the satisfaction I had been searching for, frankly, for years. I was looking for my own gains of the world’s standards to satisfy my heart. But the truth is, I was looking in the wrong place!

1 Thessalonians 2:12 says, “ We pleaded with you, encouraged you, and urged you to live your lives in a way that God would consider worthy. For he called you to share in his Kingdom and glory.”

We have been called to live our lives in a way that God would consider worthy! Well, chasing the things and successes of this world, are not what God considers worthy. No wonder I was left with emptiness and feelings of defeat. My focus needed to make a HUGE shift. I needed my mind to be drawn to things I can do to share in HIS GLORY and FOR His Glory. I have found through seeking him, praying, journaling and actually asking God what He wants for my life, His glory far outweighs any gains I can personally achieve. And the sweetness that comes along with the gift of sharing in HIS Glory leaves me speechless. It’s easy to forget to pause and truly ask God for his guidance in our steps, but when we can make this a habit, He won’t steer us wrong and in turn we are equipped by Him to do his Kingdom work for His Glory!

Pray this prayers with me:

Father God, I’m in awe that you have invited me to share in your glory. Please help me to stay kingdom focused instead of world focused. Help me to remember to ask you what you want for my life and the what steps I can take to best serve your people of this world. Remind me that the gift of sharing in your glory is much more satisfying than anything the world could ever offer. Use me for YOUR GLORY. I am here and willing to go where you send me! I love you! Amen!
